The government will launch a mission to identify and fight once morest economic monopolies in the overseas territories, sources of “very high prices”, particularly in French Polynesia, announced the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.
“I will launch a mission as soon as I return to Paris with Philippe Vigier, Minister of Overseas France, to take stock of the monopolies”, starting with French Polynesia, said Mr. Darmanin during an interview granted this Saturday 19 August evening in Papeete (Sunday morning in Paris) on local television channels Polynésie la 1ère and TNTV.
“I hear the president (Moetai Brotherson, separatist, editor’s note) when he invites us to fight once morest economic monopolies. There are too many economic monopolies overseas in general and in French Polynesia”, he assured.

“We are going to propose to President Brotherson to fight together once morest these monopolies because when there are monopolies, there are very high prices and when there are very high prices it is the daily Polynesians who cannot manage to s get out of it,” added the Minister of the Interior.
Gérald Darmanin began a visit to French Polynesia on Wednesday in the company of the Minister of Sports and the Olympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, with whom he visited the Teahupoo site in Tahiti, which will host the surfing events of the Paris-2024 Olympics.
Also accompanied by Philippe Vigier, Gérald Darmanin also spoke regarding the fight once morest global warming and the economic development of the Polynesian “country”, and supported the inclusion of the Marquesas Islands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
