[VoiceofHopeAugust192023](Interview and report by our reporter Wang Xiao) During the catastrophic floods in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the top leaders of the Communist Party of China disappeared collectively. None of the seven Standing Committee members including Xi Jinping and Li Qiang showed up in the disaster area to inspect the people’s situation. It was rumored that they were escaping the summer heat in Beidaihe and holding meetings behind closed doors. Until August 15-17, members of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China began to appear in the media one following another, and the outside world speculated that the Beidaihe meeting had ended. Current commentator Lan Shu said that the most important core issues at the Beidaihe Conference were China’s economy and diplomacy. Xi Jinping is likely to find someone to “take the blame” for the meeting following the flood.

China Central Television issued a press release stating that on August 17, Chinese President Xi Jinping presided over a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to study and deploy flood control and disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction work. But the strange thing is that the “News Network” which lasted more than 8 minutes did not have any meeting pictures, and the dry script was read throughout.

Li Yuanhua told Voice of Hope on the 18th: Xi Jinping has not shown up for more than half a month, and both China and foreign countries are concerned. In the face of the catastrophe, the people at the highest level in the center never showed up. Everyone is questioning. “Now this news has completed both of these things: he showed up and had a meeting. Although you haven’t seen it, but he has such a thing, no matter whether it is true, false, or made up, Anyway, now I got him to show up. Also, I responded to the flood thing.”

From the end of July to August, there were heavy rains in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Northeast. In order to protect Beijing and the Xiongan New Area, the authorities released the floods, causing floods in Zhuozhou, Hebei and other villages and towns along the river. Farmland, livestock, and houses were flooded. Some villagers drowned at home. carry the way. However, the leaders of Hebei province and city were nowhere to be seen when the flood occurred. Most of the villagers rely on folk mutual help to save themselves. The armed police force entered the disaster area only following the flood subsided. The authorities demanded that the non-local civilian rescue teams withdraw immediately.

Current commentator Lan Shu said: “When it comes to floods, someone must come out to ‘top the vat’. We don’t know who this person is. Xi Jinping held a meeting, explaining that the CCP is looking for the person who ‘tops the vat’. This matter has been dealt with.”

The meeting called for that during the flood control period, party committees and governments at all levels should strictly implement their responsibilities, the National Defense Command and all relevant departments and units should perform their duties with due diligence, the national comprehensive fire rescue team would charge ahead, and the army and armed police would rush to rescue.

The meeting emphasized that the linkage between meteorological early warning and disaster forecast should be further strengthened, the emergency warning should be highlighted, and the disaster early warning “response” mechanism should be implemented directly to the people responsible for flood control at the grassroots level.

Li Yuanhua said: The CCP just makes superficial articles and never takes people’s sufferings seriously. The dead do not need compensation. “In particular, the damage caused by the government’s unwarranted flood discharge does not need to be compensated. Because you flooded mine, you have to compensate me, so he didn’t warn me! After it is over, it will be a natural disaster, and the responsibility will be shirked .So it is this routine, and I have been doing this routine for many years, and I am familiar with it. Who dares to transfer it easily, including the armed police? Because the top leaders of the CCP are in fear every day. Therefore, the deployment of the army must have the highest instructions. There must be more senior talents to be transferred, not to say that whoever wants him to go, he can go.”

In addition to paying attention to the floods in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Northeast China, the outside world also pays attention to the Beidaihe meeting led by Xi Jinping and his party.

Li Yuanhua believes that in the past, the Beidaihe meeting was a place where the old and new leaders took advantage of the recuperating environment in Beidaihe to communicate or exchange interests. Now it is becoming more and more difficult for the elderly to intervene in politics, so the function of the Beidaihe Conference in the past has gradually faded.

Lan Shu said, “This year’s Beidaihe meeting must be solving Xi Jinping’s most troublesome problem. In fact, it is the domestic economic problem that the CCP is facing now and the external relationship with the Western world. These two problems must be its core.”
