MORELIA, Mich., August 19, 2023.- The Faculty of Medical and Biological Sciences Zamora Extension belonging to the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) has a high academic and practical level, said the director of the institution Héctor Padilla Aguirre.
According to a press release, he stressed that the campus located in the municipality of Tangancícuaro has been providing quality education to young people in the region who want to dedicate themselves to medicine for 21 years.
He commented that the Zamora extension has had good academic results, since it is among the 50 best universities in the country, according to the National Examination of Applicants for Medical Residences (ENARM).
The doctor specified that in this measurement, in which 150 medical schools participate, the campus he directs has come to occupy the 20th place and last year it obtained the 39th place.
“So there is a good level, the teachers are very prepared, they are not lacking, they are all specialists. Our university is recognized throughout the country, we are well qualified nationally and we already have graduates who are doing postgraduate studies abroad”.
Padilla Aguirre highlighted that, as part of the comprehensive training, the students of the campus complement their education from the first to the ninth semester with the English language, which he said is essential in this profession and has been of great value to the student body, since to refer that the most up-to-date articles in the world on medicine have an abstract in English.
“Whether it is a German, Japanese or Chinese article, they bring a summary, that has been very useful for our students, it has raised the level and it has helped us a lot so that our students leave well prepared.” He added that it is also very useful when they want to continue studying a specialty, in this sense he specified that 40 percent of the graduates of the Medicine extension in Zamora are specialists.
The director shared that the practice is one of the main axes in the campus, since from the third year the young people go to the hospitals to practice, which strengthens the preparation of future doctors.
Similarly, he highlighted the importance of the extension of Zamora for young people in the region who want to study Medicine, since with this educational option they do not have to move to Morelia to continue their preparation, following noting that they have received students /as from various municipalities such as Sahuayo, Cotija, Tingüindín, Los Reyes, Uruapan and Lázaro Cárdenas, to name a few.
