Leonel Fernández during a FP assembly held in Santo Domingo on August 19, 2023
SANTO DOMINGO- The presidential candidate of the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, Leonel Fernández, announced that this entity will hold a large demonstration of militants and followers on September 23 in the Plaza de la Bandera, in front of the headquarters of the Central Electoral Board ,
Its main objective is to “express the joy of having achieved the goal of 2 million members of the Fuerza del Pueblo, which as of today, Saturday August 19, exceeds one million nine hundred thousand registered,” he said.
Fernández added that this register will be formally deposited on September 25 in the JCE by a high-level commission of the FP.
TRUST JURISPRUDENCE WILL BE RESPECTED
Fernández said that, despite the fact that the JCE issued a statement limiting political activities, he is confident that the jurisprudence of the high courts will be respected.
“Because it is not the reason for us, it is that the decisions of the Constitutional Court are binding on all organs or powers of the State, as is the Central Electoral Board,” he said.
He proclaimed that the quality of the members of the JCE guarantees compliance with and respect for constitutional mandates, “and therefore, we will make our great demonstration on September 23, without altering any decision of the Central Electoral Board.”
PREPARES GOVERNMENT PROGRAM
Fernández said that the FP is preparing the government program that it will present to the voters next year 2024, which will be one of the most modern.
Regarding the registered register, he said that it will be auditable, not contaminated with militants from other political parties.
During the FP assembly on August 19, several resolutions were approved.
