Four Dallas, Texas police officers are under investigation following they were filmed laughing at a disabled US Army veteran who urinated in his pants following he was denied access to toilets of a restaurant, reports the Dallas Morning News.

Veteran Dynell Lane told the Dallas Police Office of Independent Investigations that two officers, who were at a Serious Pizza on June 10 at around 2:15 a.m., simply refused to see his medical papers indicating he had the right to use the establishment’s toilets.

The man, who was disabled during his deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait, underwent several lower body surgeries.

In addition to limiting him physically, his injuries have left him in a state of “constant depression”, claims Dynell Lane, adding that he often has suicidal thoughts because of his condition which forces him to seek help to strangers.

The night of June 9 to 10, the veteran called the two police officers present when the employees of Serious Pizza refused to let him use their toilets.

Members of law enforcement simply refused to help him; the man then allegedly decided to call 911, but it took too long for other officers to arrive.

Unable to assert his rights, Mr Lane then urinated in his trousers and then left the restaurant. In his complaint, the man claims to have informed one of the officers that he had just urinated on himself; to which the police officer would have replied sarcastically: “sorry” before continuing his conversation with another person.

However, in a video shared by the office of independent investigations of the Dallas police, and filmed by one of the cameras of the four police officers present, we can see the quartet of agents making fun of the veteran following the departure of this one. .

The two police officers who arrive at the restaurant ask their colleagues if they have heard of an individual who “would have urinated on himself”.

One of the agents then asks: “So, you made him pee on himself?”, before starting to laugh.

One of his colleagues tells him yes, while another seems to laugh that the veteran called 911 because of this incident.

“He got angry because you didn’t want to let him use the toilet, then he called back saying he didn’t have to go to the toilet anymore because he had urinated on it,” summarizes the one of the officers before his colleague shut down his body camera which captured the scene so far.

Members of the Dallas Police Office of Independent Investigations protested that Internal Affairs decided not to investigate the story.

The independent organization for its part voted unanimously in favor of the opening of an investigation into this affair.
