A number of studies have linked interest in physical fitness with a lower risk of cancer, as this fitness can be enhanced by brisk walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, or climbing stairs regularly.

According to a new study published by the British newspaper “The Sun”, enhancing fitness improves the health of the heart and lungs, and thus increases the ability to resist serious cancers such as throat, pancreas, liver, intestine, kidney or lung cancer.

“The study shows that higher physical fitness in healthy young men is associated with a lower risk of 10 out of 18 cancers examined,” says Dr Aron Onerup, from the University of Gothenburg.

“These results can be used in public health policy, and to enhance motivation to increase cardiorespiratory fitness in young people,” he added.
He continued, “Individuals with low physical fitness were more likely to be obese and have a higher incidence of alcohol and drug abuse.”

For its part, the British National Health Authority says that adults should do 150 minutes of moderate exercise every week, while children should do an hour of activity per day.

This can reduce the risk of cancer by maintaining a healthy weight, balancing hormone levels, controlling blood pressure and sugar and strengthening the immune system.
