Etihad Cargo, the cargo operations and logistics arm of Etihad Airways, announced that it will operate its first flight to Izhou Huahu Airport, becoming, with the arrival of the Boeing 777-200 at the airport yesterday, the first international air cargo company to operate flights to the airport.

Izhou Huahu Airport is located in the Chinese province of Hubei, and was developed to become the first cargo airport in Asia, and the fourth in the world.

The airport is expected to open 10 international cargo routes and 50 domestic routes by 2025.

The expansion of Etihad Cargo’s business to Izhou Huahu Airport follows its signing of an agreement with SF Airlines to increase air cargo capacity between China and the rest of the world, through the Etihad Cargo Center in Abu Dhabi.

This partnership enhances the access of Etihad Cargo customers and partners to 25 domestic Chinese destinations.

Rayan Ibrahim Al-Hadar, General Manager of Sales and Government Accounts for Etihad Airways Cargo, said: “Izhou Huahu is the first airport specialized in air cargo in the region, as it connects five groups of cities at the national level in China, through infrastructure For railways, waterways, highways and air transportation.

Operating an air cargo flight between Abu Dhabi and Izhou provides great opportunities in cooperation with SF Airlines, partner of Etihad Cargo, allowing the company to expand its reach to the Chinese market, which is one of the main regions for the company, its customers and partners, and represents advanced facilities and smart technology. Available at the airport is the future of the air cargo sector.
