World Photography Day will be celebrated next Saturday, August 19th, and to celebrate the significant technological advances in the area over the last two centuries, this Friday (18th), Kingston presented the advantages of its products for storage data insurance in photographic projects with cameras and drones.

Dating back to the 19th century, the daguerreotype debuted as the world’s first camera device, but forms of digital storage did not begin to appear until 1988—a year following Kingston was founded. Modern cameras, then, retired the photographic film, which became a nostalgic object for analogue cameras.

The migration from analogue to digital marked a revolution in the industry. Kingston points out that the fluidity and practicality of current technologies for data recording are among the factors that helped to popularize photography. According to the company, one of its differentials is its extensive support that promises high confidence and security to the consumer.

For professional filmmakers and photographers, one of the most important milestones in the film industry was drones. These devices have become more and more skillful over the years, and in synergy with these evolutions, the quality of their lenses began to demand compact storage solutions with very high speed.

It is in this scenario that memory cards, also known as “SD cards”, shine. The small devices are fast enough to capture images and videos in real time, in addition to having high capacities that can reach 512 GB in the Kingston portfolio—ideal for shooting high-resolution movies.

These devices are also standard on the removable storage of modern cameras. Speed, capacity and optimized for different use cases and recording are some of the most important factors for the professional photographer.

“Nowadays, with a small 512 GB SD card, it is possible to store a client’s entire campaign, which is the result of a pre-production of maybe up to 15 days in which more than 50 people worked”, said Jaime Kuntsmann, Chilean photographer who has worked on several award-winning and critically acclaimed audiovisual projects.

High performance storage solutions are Kingston’s focus as they save time transferring data between devices and help photographers become more productive. The XS2000 SSD, for example, is one of the best-selling products on the portable storage device market.

The major manufacturers of storage solutions helped shape current photography technologies, and Kingston, targeting other segments, expanded its business to other types of consumers — from professionals who demand advanced security to gamers who seek high-performance hardware for PRAÇA.
