A serious accident occurred in Couillet this Friday evening. “A car loses control and crashes into a bus shelter“, wrote us a witness via the orange button Alert us.
According to initial information, the vehicle in question overtook another car at high speed in rue de Chatelet, near the station. The driver would have lost control. As it left the road, the car hit a pole before colliding head-on with a bus shelter, to end up in the wall of the railway tracks.
Two people were in the bus shelter. According to our local correspondent, five injuries are to be deplored, including two children. Two of the victims are said to be in serious condition.
On site, five ambulances and two SMURs were deployed, as well as several Charleroi police teams. The road was completely closed to traffic. A prosecutor was dispatched to the scene.
For its part, the TEC Charleroi specifies that the traffic is disrupted and that buses have been diverted from their usual route.
