A 102-year-old Frenchwoman who has contributed for 35 years has seen her death insurance canceled by her insurer, a decision castigated by the family of the centenarian.

Jacqueline had taken out death insurance in 1986 with the Interprofessional Provident Fund for Executives, now Malakoff Humanis.

The hundred who contributed a total of 8,785 euros (nearly $13,000) hoped to finance their funeral with these savings and above all to allow their family to benefit from a death benefit.

“Obviously, for them, it’s not interesting to sign death insurance with a 102-year-old lady,” indignant Nicolas, Jacqueline’s grandson, in the columns of “Parisien”.

The family of the centenarian who seized the mediator of the Mutualité française does not exclude recourse to justice to find a compromise, since the situation has not changed one iota.

“Given the advanced age of my grandmother, a procedure in court will be long and tedious”, related Nicolas, adding that “the insurer knows it and takes advantage of the situation”.
