This week, the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission (CCJ), of the Federal Senate, approved the work plan to discuss the tax reform before the project is considered by the senators in the plenary of the Legislative House.
However, the schedule presented does not include a session dedicated to the digital economy, contrary to the plan of the Chamber of Deputies WG. Therefore, some senators complained regarding the lack of representatives mainly in the service sector.
It is worth remembering that Conexis Brasil Digital, an entity that represents the largest telecommunications companies in the country, defends the reduction of the tax burden for the sector as a way to expand connectivity throughout the country.
In turn, the rapporteur for the tax reform in the Senate, Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM), highlighted when presenting the work plan that he strategically chose to leave room for parliamentarians to present proposals for more public hearings.
Following a suggestion by the senators, Braga allowed more time for the inclusion of participants in the public hearing on services. In view of this agreement, the proposed date for the meeting was postponed by one week and was now scheduled for August 29.

In total, Braga proposed eight public hearings to be held in the next two weeks, with dates still undefined. Among the topics discussed are the impact on the service sector, industry, agribusiness and cooperativism, and on states and municipalities.
Still according to the published schedule, the report should be presented on September 27th and the vote in the CCJ should take place on October 4th. The Senate Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) should also collaborate with public hearings on the subject.
