OL: Mata injured and absent for several weeks
The right-back of Lyon, Clinton Mata, released in the 21st minute of the Strasbourg-Lyon match (2-1) of the 1st day of Ligue 1, suffers from a muscular injury to a thigh and is forfeited for the reception of Montpellier Saturday, OL announced on Thursday.
The unavailability of the player, recruited this summer, is not determined but should extend until the international break, following the Lyon-Paris Saint-Germain match on September 3.
His absence is added to those of goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, injured in the face and defender Dejan Lovren, also suffering from a thigh and whose return is not expected before September.

OL: Blanc speaks of the market and of the Tagliafico house

White not thrilled by the extended additional time
Laurent Blanc addressed this Thursday the subject of additional time to extend in Ligue 1 during his visit to a press conference. The Rhone technician did not seem to be a big fan and would not object to a switch to actual playing time in football as in rugby.
“It can change something regarding the management of the end of the match. But the question must be asked, it’s a big subject at the level of the football authorities, it’s to see if we take the actual playing time or the time over 90 minutes, explained the OL coach two days before the match once morest Montpellier. In my opinion, this raises questions in higher circles. Having discussed it with people in high places, I think it is evolving and ensuring that football will be played with effective playing time.”
And Laurent Blanc to clarify: “I find that playing with added time of 10, 11, 12 or 13 minutes is not the best thing. It changes the face of the match. If it’s 2 or 3 minutes , yes. And once more, things can happen. But 15 minutes is almost a third of a period, it’s too much…too much… But everyone has their own opinion. […] This can influence your changes and therefore your team tactics. It is to be taken into consideration and I think there will be an evolution in football in the years to come.”

Still additional extended time for the 2nd day?
As expected, overtime doubled last weekend, for the first day of the 2023-2024 Ligue 1 season, compared to last season’s average.
All but a surprise given the FIFA guidelines for referees for several months.

PSG: Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé hoped for in Toulouse
Nordi Mukiele resumed collective training this Wednesday at the PSG Campus. Injured in April and operated on his hamstrings, the 25-year-old right-back had been training on the sidelines of the group since the resumption.
Lee Kang-In and Warren Zaire-Emery trained separately on Wednesday. A priori, it is simply a precautionary measure, especially fatigue, especially for “WZE”.
Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé took part in the session normally and will be in the group this weekend, barring any last-minute changes.

Hello everyone,
After a first salvo which reserved its share of surprises such as the defeat of OL in Strasbourg or the draw of PSG once morest Lorient, the Ligue 1 season continues this weekend on the occasion of the second day.
A few days following their cruel elimination in the Champions League, OM will open the ball with a trip to Metz on Friday evening.
