While the game is breaking attendance numbers on Steam, another record has been broken, that of speed to complete the main story.

During his games, the streamer will not have had time to admire the scenery of the game. Mae, of his nickname, finished Baldur’s Gate 3 in just nine minutes. He recorded his feat in a first video posted on YouTube on August 14, which has already accumulated more than 400,000 views and spotted by the specialized media IGN, where he manages to complete the game in 10 minutes. Before breaking his own record in a second video: 8 minutes and 58 seconds.

Released on the Steam video game platform on August 3, the video game is developed by Laran Studio. In Baldur’s Gate 3, which is a role-playing game, the player finds himself in a universe of medieval and fantastic fiction of the Forgotten Realms, and makes his character evolve in a very elaborate setting.

The game, which takes place in three acts, was designed to last around 35 hours if the player follows the main story and over 96 hours if following the full story. The “speedrunner” Mae therefore wanted to circumvent the rules. And for that, he chose the character named Gale, notably known for jumping very high and powerfully.

Finish as soon as possible

During her expedited adventure, Mae spotted a sort of flaw in the game, a false ending that can be triggered at the end of Act 2, only possible when the player takes on the role of Gale. So Mae raced through the entire beginning of the game, running and jumping as fast as she might while dodging enemies and cutscenes. He then reached the end of the second act, and only had to make a choice during a conversation that led him directly to one of the game’s endings.

This speedrun is part of the “Any%” category, which is to simply get to the end of the game without worrying regarding main or side quests. A record that has something to attract other competitors since Baldur’s Gate 3 achieved the second best start when it was released on Steam in early August.

Last May, a player completed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in less than an hour.
