101 people are said to have left Senegal on July 10th. 38 of them have now been rescued on the high seas – including some children.
The boat was sighted by a Spanish fishing boat regarding 277 kilometers off the island of Sal on Monday. According to the police, this then alerted the Cape Verdean authorities.

“We must take in the living and bury the dead with dignity,” said Cape Verde Health Minister Filomena Gonçalves, according to the Infopress news agency.
