Dworak: “Kogler’s initiative is worth discussing. NEOS proposal is additional and unnecessary pressure on local authorities!”

Carrot and stick – that seems to be the new motto towards communities when it comes to soil sealing.

St. Polten (OTS) Vice-Chancellor Werne Kogler wants to support municipalities that unseal soil, while NEOS want to punish municipalities with too high a sealing rate through financial equalization.

Lower Austria GVV-President Mayor Rupert Dworak: “I can certainly gain a lot from Vice-Chancellor Kogler’s initiative to give the municipalities financial incentives to unseal areas. This is a proposal that is absolutely worth discussing.

But the NEOS come out as a party of uncertainty and thus fit seamlessly into the unnecessary normality debate between turquoise and green. I consider your proposal to regulate soil sealing via financial equalization to be a stalemate debate. Punishing municipalities for having to take measures to ensure the quality of life of their citizens is a crazy idea. Rather, the NEOS should consider whether their frontal attacks on all possible institutions really make sense. I consider it very unnecessary to put unnecessary pressure on the municipalities, which really have many other problems.

When it comes to financial equalization and municipalities, I rather expect that the repair of the property tax regulation that has long been agreed there will finally be implemented. And that the NEOS also support the communities with the new FAG to get the money they need in the future to maintain the quality of life of the people.
