Surprisingly, Apple has just made available to all owners of compatible Apple Watches the watchOS 9.6.1 (build 20U80).
The release note for the update cites a very specific fix related to apps that make use of the APIApplication programming interfaceor application programming interface.”>1 Movement Disorders:
This update includes a fix for an issue that prevented apps using the Movement Disorders API from accessing movement data to monitor tremors and symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease.
As always, watchOS 9.6.1 can be installed by opening the Watch app on the iPhone paired with the watch and going to General » Software Update — or, for those who prefer, directly by the clock in Settings » General » Software Update.
The new version arrives a few weeks following 9.6.
