A Texas couple waited nearly two years before kissing for the first time on their wedding day last June.
Keylin Akuchie and Eleazer Akuchie said their decision made the gesture “even more special,” according to The Mirror. They had met at Christ For The Nations religious college in 2019.
Although they were both attracted to each other, Eleazer Akuchie waited almost three years before arranging a first date with the one who would become his wife.
Because of their religious values, the two individuals decided to impose “significant physical limits”, mentioned the main interested parties.
“I had never kissed anyone before,” the 25-year-old said. I wanted the first person I kiss to be my wife. We really wanted to get to know each other and connect emotionally and spiritually before any physical connection.”
“I think everyone thought our choice was weird,” the 24-year-old added.
Although they agreed to abstain from having sex and kissing, Keylin Akuchie said that not all forms of physical intimacy were outlawed. Controlled acts included kissing on the forehead and on the cheeks. They might hold hands and offer hugs.
When the urge to kiss was present, the couple organized activities with friends to distract themselves or turned to prayer.
The spouses claimed to have exchanged “a million billion kisses a day” since the wedding.
Chastity makes all the difference, according to Keylin Akuchie, by strengthening the connection between partners.
“We can now enjoy the physical aspects of marriage and it’s even more special to have waited,” she said.
