Would you turn down a $300,000 contract from a company just because its values disgust you?
This is what French humorist Blanche Gardin did recently.
She said no to 200,000 euros for the French version of LOL who will have the last laugh produced and broadcast on Amazon Prime, because of the way Amazon treats its employees and encourages overconsumption.
But that’s not the only reason I like it. What she says regarding wokes is so relevant!
REFUSE A GIANT AD
In an interview with the French magazine PointGardin recently explained why she refused this show, which was a huge success here with Patrick Huard, Laurent Paquin and Christine Morency.
«LOLit’s a giant page for Amazon to continue to grow and impose itself on everyone as an acceptable and even desirable way of life, and I have always refused to advertise, even and above all when she is extremely well paid.”
She calls Amazon a “grinding machine.”

And the worst part is that Amazon doesn’t even do this because it believes in the value of this lifestyle, but to sell stuff! To make us consume more and more.”
Gardin refused to participate “in a reality show of a mega-polluting multinational, queen of tax optimization, slaver, killer of social life and small businesses, etc. To agree to do so was to agree to be Amazon’s “cool” surety. We can no longer afford to be unscrupulous.”
We may or may not agree with Blanche Gardin, but one thing is certain: with her, boots follow lips.
AWAKENED WOKES
In this fascinating interview, Blanche Gardin also talked regarding wokism.

AWAKENING WITHOUT HUMOR
Gardin adds one thing regarding wokes.
“If you’re an activist, obviously you’re not into humor, since you’re glued to your subject. Humor is distance.
These are not people who expect reflection, time, the indirect and even fun, they want a sermon, instructions. Above all, no metaphor, above all no otherness… They have put on glasses and see all of reality through that prism.”
