Insolent growth for the Chinese manufacturer BYD

A battery specialist since 1995, BYD founded its automotive division in 2003. It only took the brand thirteen years to produce 1 million “new energy” vehicles, in other words hybrid or electric. Eighteen months later, the Chinese manufacturer had already produced 3 million vehicles. Nine months later, that is today, the brand has passed the milestone of 5 million vehicles assembled for the entire world.

Better than Tesla

Yes, China is a huge market. But the progression in Europe is real and the figure of 5 million vehicles produced is the envy of many. Tesla, for example, has yet to assemble 2 million cars, although it is true that Elon Musk’s brand is even younger than BYD. Indeed, the first Tesla was only produced in 2008.
