Ukraine launched a long-awaited counteroffensive in June, but the Ukrainian side has admitted that the fighting is difficult and it is difficult to break through the heavily guarded Russian positions.

While Ukrainian forces gained ground around the war-torn eastern city of Bakhmut, Russian forces also made inroads around the town of Kupiansk in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region.

Xiao Yigu made the above speech at the Moscow Conference for International Security. Russia invited representatives of more than 100 countries to participate, but excluded Western countries.
