A bus driver was hit in the eye by a projectile Monday evening, around 9:30 p.m., while driving his vehicle at Place Flagey, in Ixelles, said Stib.
The driver was driving with the window open on the driver’s side, on the 71 bus line. The projectile was fired by two young people who were traveling on an electric scooter using a pellet gun, according to the Brussels public transport company .
According to the first testimonies collected by the police, it would rather be stones, however indicated the divisional commissioner of the Brussels-Capital / Ixelles zone.
After the assault, the driver was immediately taken to hospital. He was able to return home in the evening but remains in shock. STIB announces that it is filing a complaint.
The perpetrators of the shooting have not yet been apprehended. “The investigation is ongoing. We have yet to review CCTV footage.“, underlined the police. In order to avoid any additional incident, various police patrols escorted the buses on line 71 during the rest of the evening, while a security team from Stib was also deployed.
