The civil construction industry in Santa Catarina has been gaining more prominence and protagonism in the national and international scenario, not only due to real estate appreciation, but mainly due to the production of constructive technology. This was the sector that generated the most jobs since 2020, the number of construction workers has grown by 13.1% since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the Fiesc Observatory 2023 and the sector occupies the 1st position in the participation of the industrial gross domestic product of Santa Catarina.

On the night of this Wednesday, August 9, the operations manager of FG Empreendimentos, engineer Gustavo Simas, participated in the Concrete Show, one of the biggest events in the civil construction sector in Latin America, which took place in São Paulo. Simas presented the Boreal Tower case, addressing technological and innovation issues in skyscrapers.

The engineer presented the entire process of industrialization of the construction of the Boreal Tower, a project signed by FG Empreendimentos, talking regarding aluminum molds for the structure, ventilated façade, raised floor, modular swimming pool that arrive ready at the work site. “This whole discipline organized in a systematic way also generates more jobs, since with the development of optimized processes, we also have the need to train a qualified and specialized workforce. We have several cases at FG of companies that were born to meet a certain demand and that today operate in the entire segment”, exemplifies the engineer.

Gustavo Simas showed the indices that reinforce this trend, which is also aligned with the objectives of social development, the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN (United Nations), in terms of the search for an even more sustainable system and reinforces the data presented by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), in which Brazil is appointed as the quinto country with the most sustainable buildings in the world. The ranking, which takes into account 180 countries, is formed from an analysis that involves everything from projects in the initial stages to the operation of real estate projects. “Much has been said regarding verticalization and the industrialization of civil construction and regarding the sustainability of this process – both economically for the production chain and ecologically, and that is why we need to show the pioneering and successful cases in the area”, explains Gustavo Simas.

“Within this context, we show that it is possible to produce in scale in the industry and install it on site, reducing deadlines, improving product quality and reducing waste. Moving more and more away from artisanal construction towards the professionalization of the production chain”, explains Gustavo Simas.

Among the items that Simas highlighted in the presentation are: workforce qualification, schedule reduction, greater quality assurance, safety at all stages, sustainability and clean work. “At the Boreal Tower we projected a 60% reduction in waste produced”, he points out. And more: “It is important to highlight that all these processes presented and applied today are developed within FG’s innovation department, relying on international benchmarketing and exhaustive tests to guarantee the construction standard. Many of these technologies are even starting to be used throughout the production chain, which generates the development of the entire market”, concludes Gustavo Simas.
