The Londoners make Moises Caicedo the record transfer. Liverpool are at a disadvantage.

Chelsea FC have won the bet for Moises Caicedo. The 21-year-old midfielder signed until 2031 with the “Blues”, who, according to media reports, will pay a record transfer fee of 133 million euros to Brighton & Hove Albion.

This is the highest total for a newcomer in English Premier League history. “When Chelsea called me, I didn’t have to think twice regarding signing,” Caicedo said.

Klopp was happy too soon

It’s the end of a crazy poker game. Last week, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp had already confirmed that the national player from Ecuador would move to the Reds, but Caicedo really wanted to go to Chelsea.

And it looks like Caicedo isn’t the only one who prefers Chelsea to Liverpool. Romeo Lavia, currently employed by Southampton, is apparently regarding to move to London – for almost 60 million euros. Klopp wanted to guide the 19-year-old to Anfield as a Fabinho replacement.

“If a Chelsea coach wants a player, he’ll get him,” was Klopp’s succinct explanation.
