Last week, it was grey, rainy and cool temperatures. This week, return of barbecues, sun and summer heat. It was enough for the Belgians to return to the coast once more! The Pont de l’Assomption makes it possible to strengthen the presence of tourists on our beaches a little, to the delight of tourist actors.
Currently, the beaches are crowded. Blankenberge hotels have an occupancy rate of 90%. Everything is reassuring, following a more difficult month of July, with an average loss of 10% in the volume of reservations in hotels. The month of August was more positive, with tourist offices that do not hide their joy to find visitors in the region.
The only difficult consequence: the impact on traffic. “If you come here today or tomorrow, perhaps prefer the train to the car, because I can tell you that you have to be patient to find a parking space”, confirms Romain Mayez, our duplex journalist from Blankenberge. This is the counterpart to pay to enjoy the sun with your feet in the sand.
