It was only in May that the foreign minister was stranded in Qatar because of a wheel defect on a government airbus. Now Annalena Baerbock has to interrupt her trip to Australia.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has to interrupt her business trip to Australia.
After the stopover in Abu Dhabi there were technical problems.

After the breakdown of a government Airbus, a decision is to be made later today as to when German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) can continue her trip to the Pacific region. Because of a defect however, when retracting the take-off flaps, the aircraft was unable to reach normal cruising altitude and speed. This was prevented by the extended flaps. The plane was fully fueled for the almost 14-hour flight from Abu Dhabi to Australia. In order to land safely, the crew had to dump regarding 80 tons of kerosene. To do this, the machine circled for around two hours over the Gulf Emirate and the sea.
Return of cultural assets to the indigenous people
Baerbock actually wanted to land in the Australian capital Canberra on Monday evening around 10:30 p.m. local time (2:30 p.m. CEST on Monday). On Tuesday morning, the official program was to begin with the return of colonial-era cultural assets to the Kaurna Indigenous people of Australia. The objects of the Grassi Museum in Leipzig – a wooden sword, a spear, a fishing net and a club – have sacred, cultural and identity-forming value for the Kaurna people. It was initially unclear what changes there would be to the travel program planned until Saturday. After Australia, Baerbock also wanted to visit New Zealand and Fiji.
