CryptoDATA Motorrad Grand Prix in Spielberg

Vienna (OTS) Around 170,000 Moto GP fans will travel to Spielberg from August 18th to 20th. Delays on the access roads to the Red Bull Ring are inevitable. The ÖAMTC expects long traffic jams, especially when departing on Sunday.

The new MotoGP sprint format will be used for the first time at the Red Bull Ring. Friday practice is followed by qualifying and sprint races on Saturday. As usual, the highlight of the race weekend will take place on Sunday – the Grand Prix of Austria.

As early as Wednesday, when the first campers are on their way towards the Red Bull Ring, increased traffic can be expected in the Murtal, but according to the club, the main day of arrival is Sunday. In order to avoid long traffic jams, you should therefore arrive at the Red Bull Ring as early as possible. From around 8:00 a.m. arrival will start in full, until around 11:00 a.m. there will be delays on the Murtal Schnellstraße (S36), Gaberl Straße (B77), Friesacher Straße (B317) and on the direct access roads to the parking lots.

Construction sites on the A9 will slow down the flow of traffic

The ÖAMTC recommends guests arriving via the A9 (Pyhrn Autobahn) to check the current traffic jam situation on the planned route before setting off (e.g. under www.oeamtc.at/verkehrsservice or www.oeamtc.at/routenplaner). Again and once more there are severe delays in front of the construction site area between Gratkorn Nord and Übelbach. An alternative for travelers from the south-east is the route via the A2 (south autobahn) and the Obdacher saddle (B78).

Coming from Linz, the construction site between St. Pankraz and Windischgarsten is particularly at risk of traffic jams. There are no time-saving detours here, the only option is to start earlier.

You can travel by train and bus without any traffic jams. Free shuttle buses are available for train passengers from Friday to Sunday at Knittelfeld and Judenburg train stations.

According to the club, there are sufficient car parking spaces in the vicinity of the Red Bull Ring. The tried-and-tested traffic control system is already in use on the Murtal Schnellstraße, which shows the respective parking spaces according to the ticket colors. The executive is also on site and helps if necessary.

Tough journey home

In contrast to the arrival, which is staggered, the guests will stream to the parking lots at the same time following the event. Traffic jams on the streets in the vicinity and on the Murtal expressway are programmed. From the followingnoon until well into the evening, according to the ÖAMTC, progress on the A9 will also be slow because there will also be a number of holidaymakers on the road. Delays will mainly occur around the St. Michael node, as well as in front of the construction site area near Windischgarsten in the direction of Voralpenkreuz and at Ubelbach in the direction of Graz.
