A medical team from King Faisal Hospital, a member of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Health Assembly, extracted a magnetic piece from the intestine of a fifty-year-old patient in a four-hour surgery.

The patient attended the hospital emergency via the Saudi Red Crescent suffering from bloating and severe abdominal pain, and the necessary examinations and x-rays were performed by the emergency consultant, and it became clear that he was suffering from intestinal obstruction with the presence of a foreign body, and the alternate surgical team was called, and due to the instability of the health situation The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit, and the decision was made to perform a surgical intervention, which is an exploratory operation of the abdomen, in order to extract the foreign body.

The surgical team was able to extract a magnetic piece from the inside of the intestine, which led to severe adhesions in the intestine with a wrap around the arteries, which resulted in interruption of the blood supply and rotting of part of the intestine. The rotten part was removed with a length of 80 cm.

The patient was transferred to intensive care to monitor his health condition and to complete the treatment plan. Praise be to God, the patient is in good health and is still receiving health care.
