Uber Eats is launching a new platform for teens that offers safe meals, a way to make life easier for families.

Since Wednesday, some teenagers can order their food on the new Uber Eats service.

However, the teenager between 13 and 17 years old can only access the Uber Eats service, if the parent invites him to join his account.

“When he places an order, the parent receives a notification. Each time the parent is aware of what the young person has ordered, so what he is going to eat, ”explains the head of public affairs for Uber in Quebec, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles, Jonathan Hamel.

A secure service?

Uber Eats uses technology in the service of safety. For teenagers, it will not be possible to order alcohol. The product will simply not show up.

“The product won’t appear on the page, they won’t see the alcohol, and there won’t be any ads regarding it,” Hamel adds.

The platform was set up to allow parents to know what their teenager is consuming.

“It gives more visibility to parents. In the specific case where a parent gives his teenager $20 for food, the teenager can leave and eat whatever he wants. There, he will see what he eats and then have a discussion on nutrition, ”notes the head of public affairs for Uber in Quebec.

Hamel says Uber Eats is a way for teens to discover new restaurants that offer healthy menus. “It’s the parent who has the decision in his hands, he can invite him if he knows that his child has the maturity to make healthy choices,” he says.
