The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, arrived at the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) in Puerto Madero with a smile on his face to fulfill his civic duty and cast his vote in the open, simultaneous and mandatory primary elections (PASO) 2023. following voting, The president reflected on the importance of participating in the democratic process and its impact on the country.

«I came to exercise my civic right. Whenever you vote, Argentina becomes a better country»Fernández declared with conviction. He highlighted the historical significance of the elections and citizen commitment in the consolidation of democracy. “We have been democracy for 40 years. Let’s all go vote. It is a day of joy»he emphasized.

The president shared his plans for the rest of the day, indicating that he will await the election results at the Olivos presidential residence together with friends and ministers. During the voting process, Fernández expressed satisfaction with the ease of the procedure, especially in relation to the dual voting system that had raised some prior doubts.

When asked regarding his role in the electoral process, Fernández highlighted: “I am ruling. I’m not a candidate.” thus avoiding putting the electoral ban at risk. Regarding the uncertainties in the financial market following the STEP, the president chose not to comment on it before leaving.

Although on this occasion he was not accompanied by the first lady, Fabiola Yañez, the head of state greeted the table authorities before casting his vote. Despite his arrival a few minutes following the scheduled time, Alberto Fernández came by following 10 o’clock and, as he left, encouraged all Argentines to participate in this civic celebration.
