According to the authorities, at least six people were killed this morning by Russian artillery fire on villages in the southern Ukrainian region of Cherson. This includes a baby who is only 22 days old, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Telegram. Meanwhile, the Russian military said it had once more shot down Ukrainian drones over the Kursk and Belgorod regions on the border with Ukraine.

The baby’s parents also died in the village of Schyroka Balka. A 12-year-old son of the family was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, it said.

“Enemy shells Cherson”

Two adults were killed in the neighboring village of Stanislav, wrote the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak. “The enemy continues to shell the Kherson region.” The villages are located on the north bank of the Dnipro River at its confluence with the Black Sea. Russian troops withdrew from this area in the fall, but it is still within their artillery range.
