Restoration and Support for Sangam World Cup Stadium: Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Takes Action

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it would actively support the ground restoration of the Sangam World Cup Stadium in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree Closing Ceremony and K-Pop Concert were held.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism explained today (13th) that regarding concerns regarding damage to the ground grass due to the event, “As soon as the demolition of concert-related facilities such as the stage is completed, the Seoul Facilities Corporation will closely examine the ground situation and begin emergency restoration such as supplementation of the dedicated lawn.” .

He added, “From the concert planning stage, we have prepared a budget to restore the stadium to its original condition.”

Previously, when the Jamboree Closing Ceremony and K-Pop Concert were held at the Sangam World Cup Stadium due to the influence of a typhoon, some soccer fans raised concerns regarding damage to the stadium grass, saying that it was a lawn that cost hundreds of millions of won in 2021.
