A Lancet report has confirmed an unusual medical condition in which legs turn blue in long-term Covid patients. According to a study published in the Lancet, this is a condition called acrocyanosis in which blood accumulates in the veins of the legs. After standing for 10 minutes continuously, the patient’s feet turn blue and itch intensely. Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome has also been confirmed in such patients. This is a condition in which the heart rate increases abnormally while standing.

Long-term covid has been found to affect multiple systems in the body, including the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary processes in the body such as heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, digestion, and sexual arousal. Acrocyanosis was confirmed in children with dystonia, a common symptom of post-viral syndromes.

Symptoms of fatigue, depression and anxiety have been identified in chronic Covid patients. It has also been found to significantly affect patients’ ability to perform daily activities and their quality of life.
