SPÖ boss Andreas Babler rows back vigorously – the question that remains is what the SPÖ actually wants
Vienna (OTS) – “For the SPÖ, Andreas Babler’s party leadership continues to mean ‘management by chaos’. In today’s Ö1 ‘Journal zu Gast’, Andreas Babler rows back vigorously, for example in his demand for 100 km/h on all autobahns. Even if it is to be welcomed that the SPÖ leader is slowly but surely coming to his senses on this issue, no one can be sure that his convictions will not be turned 180 degrees once more next week. The day before yesterday, Babler was sure that he would perform together with Hans Peter Doskozil in Burgenland, but today he no longer wants to commit himself to it. One of the few issues that Andreas Babler remains true to is his solidarity with the climate stickers, which regularly take the population hostage with their blockade actions. One question keeps coming up: What will the SPÖ stand for next week? Nobody in this country knows exactly what the SPÖ actually wants. Probably not even Babler himself, ”commented the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, on the Ö1 interview of the SPÖ leader.
“In any case, the left-wing course of the federal SPÖ is not a program for the future, but a way straight back into the past. Babler has confirmed this himself, because when he talks regarding his politics, one hears more regarding 1970s nostalgia than regarding the challenges of the future. The fact that the circumstances of the world have changed so much since then seems to have left Babler almost untouched. From Tyrol to Vienna to Burgenland, Babler’s plans met with massive resistance. No matter how much Andreas Babler tries to hide the differences in the SPÖ: the split in the SPÖ is visible and deepens every week,” Stocker continues, who finally emphasizes: “In contrast to the SPÖ, the People’s Party with Chancellor Karl Nehammer has that guided the country through the time of multiple crises and took responsibility for the country and the people. Meanwhile, the SPÖ has been busy with itself for years.”
