A Mauricie bar that regularly hosted bikers linked to the Hells and with whom the owner had ties received the worst possible sanction, the revocation of his liquor license for at least a year, because he was “a potential target for organized crime”.

«[Pierre] Laliberté is known to police services for being a relation of the Hells Angels of the Trois-Rivières chapter for more than 20 years. He is invited to various events reserved for members of outlaw motorcycle gangs or individuals who are affiliated with them and only trusted individuals have access to them, ”wrote administrative judge Maude Lajoie in a recent decision of the Court of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ).
The 53-year-old man is the owner of Charlie II, located on Lamothe Avenue in Bécancour.
He was also a longtime friend of late Trois-Rivières Hells Angels member Paul Magnan, who went to the bar almost every week.

Several visits
Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) have had to intervene there on numerous occasions in recent years, for various problems.
During visits by the SQ, the presence of bikers from different school clubs or Hells supporter clubs was noted.
He has been seen on several occasions in biker-related events, notably in August 2018 during a party organized in Sainte-Sophie by the Crazy Bastards, accompanied “by several members of the HA of the Trois-Rivières chapter”.
“Mr. Laliberté has frequented this milieu for so long that he no longer seems to distinguish between individuals per se and the outlaw motorcycle gangs to which they are linked. […] He even shares a deeper friendship with some of them. He has been immersed in the criminal environment for more than twenty years, ”underlines the administrative judge.
He was searched
As part of the SQ’s “Presumption” investigation project, the owner of the Charlie II was also the target of a search in June 2021, he who allegedly had links with a narcotics distribution cell. Note that he was never charged in this case.
Nevertheless, the police found at Laliberté’s home “more than $6,000 (Canadian and American money), a prohibited weapon and a 0.67 gram sachet of cocaine”.
They also seized a “jacket with the inscription in red and white“Support 81 Trois-Rivières” and a sweater with the words “Red Power“Always in red and white”, recounts the decision.
The 8 refers to the eighth letter of the alphabet which is H and the 1 to the first letter of the alphabet, A.

As part of this investigation, an undercover agent went to Pierre Laliberté’s house, where drug trafficking was openly discussed.
“The omnipresence of people linked to organized crime around Mr. Laliberté and the establishment he administers […] makes it a potential target to become a point of sale of narcotics, “said the administrative judge.
“I’m going to appeal”
Contacted by The newspaper, Pierre Laliberté denounced the revocation of his liquor license, “the worst sanction” he might have received. He won’t be able to apply for it back for a year, and there’s no guarantee it’ll be accepted.

“I’m going to appeal, I have no choice. […] I want to save my parents’ legacy, he said. I hope the Régie will give me a chance.”
He regrets that the RACJ did not want to take into consideration all the commitments he was prepared to make, in particular to refuse access to his bar to anyone who showed signs of belonging to a criminal group.
“Looks like they wanted to pass [mon bar] like a lair. […] They come here as much as elsewhere, he dropped. Me, a small bar like I have in the countryside, I can’t afford to spit on anything. We can’t be too selective. We take what passes, and we deal with it.”
