The President of the Republic said that the new PAC foresees investments of BRL 1.7 trillion, but that it might exceed BRL 2 trillion

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said this Friday, the 11th, during the launch of the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), that the act marks the beginning of his government. He also used the speech to charge his ministers.

“The PAC is the beginning of our third mandate. Because from the PAC minister, you will stop having ideas. Minister will have to comply with what was approved here and work hard so that we can implement this PAC”, declared the President of the Republic.

Lula also praised his team of assistants. He said that the ministers at the beginning of his new term are “sharper” than the ones he had the first time he was president. He cited the experience of several of them as governors. He named Wellington Dias, Minister of Social Development who governed Piauí for 4 terms.

The President of the Republic said that the new PAC foresees investments of BRL 1.7 trillion, but that it might exceed BRL 2 trillion. “If the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, opens his hand a little, he may even have more money to do things in the country”, declared the president. He said he will not let the “almost obsessive fiscal austerity” block the wishes of the population.
