Hallesche FC is looking forward to a football festival: Today (6 p.m., Sky live) they face second division Greuther Fürth in the DFB Cup. As in the league, the Leuna-Chemie-Stadion will be sold out once more, 12,500 fans will come.

But the anticipation is clouded: As the club announced on Friday, right-back Niklas Kreuzer (30) will be absent until further notice. During intensive medical examinations, a tumor was discovered in the testicles.

Last year there were four testicular cancer diagnoses in German professional football: Timo Baumgartl (27 / Schalke 04), Jean-Paul Boetius (29 / without a club), Marco Richter (25 / Hertha BSC) and Sébastien Haller (29 / Borussia Dortmund).

Testicular cancer is the most common type of cancer in young men up to the age of 40. Every year there are around 4100 new cases in Germany. And it mostly affects men between the ages of 25 and 45.
