The billionaire claims to have discussed the issue with the Italian Prime Minister to welcome this confrontation in Rome.
Elon Musk announced on Twitter this Friday that his fight once morest Mark Zuckerberg will take place in Rome, in an “antique” and “epic” place, he assured.
“I spoke to the Italian Prime Minister (Giorgia Meloni, editor’s note) and the Minister of Culture (Gennaro Sangiuliano, editor’s note). They agreed on an epic place” explains the billionaire.
The Italian authorities did not communicate. “Everything that will be done will respect Italy’s past and present,” assured Musk, adding that “all profits will go to veterans.”
He also indicated that the UFC, the main MMA franchise, will not be involved. “The fight will be managed by my foundation and that of Zuck (Mark Zuckerberg, editor’s note)” he indicated, specifying that the fight will be broadcast on Twitter (now called X) and Meta.
Selon le média sportif italien Tutto Sport, it is no less than the Colosseum that has been mentioned for this confrontation. Again, the Italian authorities have not confirmed this information.
Latent rivalry
Elon Musk did not put forward a fight date but said he performed a 3-hour MRI last Monday to check the strength of his back and in particular a fusion (a graft) between two vertebrae. “Not a problem,” he tweeted once more.
“However, there is a problem with my right shoulder blade rubbing once morest my ribs, which requires minor surgery. Recovery will only take a few months,” he added.
The idea of a fight between the two rival billionaires emerged last June. Launched as a joke, the verbal contest then turned into a real MMA (mixed martial arts) fight on the shelves.
Mark Zuckerberg, a big fan of Brazilian jujitsu, won a regional tournament this year and continues to train. For his part, Elon Musk has also embarked on training to compete with the boss of Facebook.
