Al-Marsad Newspaper: The Food and Drug Authority said that it is common to drink “hibiscus” to lower blood pressure in alternative medicine, but if you want to drink it, you should consult a doctor.

The authority added in an infographic, which it published on its Twitter account, that the quantities allowed to be consumed from hibiscus are 720 ml per day, for a period of 6 weeks as a maximum.

And she added that hibiscus conflicts with medications, chloroquine, diclofenac, simvastatin, losartan, high blood pressure medications, diabetes medications, and cholesterol medications, so you should consult a doctor if you want to eat hibiscus.

Warnings

According to the authority, hibiscus should not be eaten in the event of pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years of age, before or following surgeries.

The Food and Drug Administration indicated that one should refrain from eating hibiscus two weeks before the surgery, because it is difficult to control the level of sugar in the blood.
