– Domestic violence: the president of Troyes ejected

The Troyes club – L’ESTAC – has “terminated with immediate effect” the contract of its president Aymeric Magne, the Ligue 2 team announced on Friday, two days following a conviction on appeal for domestic violence.
The Reims Court of Appeal confirmed on Wednesday the first instance conviction, on March 2, of Aymeric Magne to three months in prison suspended and a fine of 1,500 euros. “Obviously it has an impact” on the termination of his contract, told AFP a source familiar with the matter.
The club told AFP that it did not intend to communicate further on this affair.
A fight in the car
Without a criminal record, Aymeric Magne was convicted of “violence without incapacity by a person who is or has been a spouse, cohabitant or partner”. In question, a gesture during an argument during the couple’s return by car following an “alcoholic evening”, had specified to AFP the public prosecutor of Troyes, Julie Bernier.
His wife had opened the passenger side door while he was driving and “he would have pressed her with his arm once morest the seat, squeezing her neck,” explained Ms. Bernier.
Aymeric Magne was appointed executive chairman and general manager of the Trojan club in May 2021. Under his leadership, ESTAC was relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the last season, which ended in 19th place in Ligue 1.
The general management of the club will be provided by Dutchman Mattijs Manders, the club also announced on Friday.
Troyes has belonged to the City Football Group since the summer of 2020, which also owns the English club Manchester City, winner of the last Champions League.
