Staff members at the Delhaize Westland store in Anderlecht decided on Thursday to interrupt their work “at least for the day” in response to the dismissal of one of their colleagues, whom management blames for endangering the life of others. The store remains open, however, the itinerant delegate for the National Central of Employees (CNE) Didier Cappelle told Belga.
“Following the works council that there was on Monday, there was a scuffle” during which kicks were kicked into a window by demonstrators present, explains Mr. Cappelle. ” Afterwards, [notre collègue] puts his hand on the glass, which falls following being unscrewed. For [la direction via ses avocats]it is a danger to the life of others so the person is dismissed”.

“All the staff will strike in solidarity with [notre collègue]. We are not closing the store otherwise the bailiff will come and there will be a penalty, as usual at Delhaize. But the response will follow, ”warns the union representative.
There is currently no time limit for this action.
