In Germany, electric cars from Volkswagen are in greater demand than from Tesla

Western media shared information regarding how electric cars were sold in Germany in the first seven months of this year. Needless to say, the results were a bit surprising. The first thing that experts noted was a sharp leap forward by Volkswagen, which lost out to the eminent North American brand Tesla.

In many ways, the success of the German brand is associated with the launch of the new Volkswagen ID. buzz. Recall that the model is offered both in the passenger version and in the commercial version. So, since its presentation, 2,815 copies have been sold. At the same time, 536 vans were purchased in July. As for the overall figures, in just these seven months, 41,475 cars were sold. Tesla sold slightly fewer vehicles during this period – 40,289 units.

The top five also included such brands as Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW. The first brand took third place in the ranking with a result of 20,613 cars sold, and the last two companies shared the fourth and fifth places. So, Audi was able to sell 16,786 cars during this period, and BMW – 15,987 units. Tesla’s most popular model was the Model Y, which was chosen by 29,829 customers. The Model S and Model X are far ahead of the leader with 855 and 494 units sold (photo: Tesla; Volkswagen).
