Work intended to link the municipalities of Dugny and Le Bourget (Seine-Saint-Denis), in particular with a view to streamlining and securing the movement of pedestrians and cyclists between the Departmental Park George Valbon and the new sports and school park, the crossing over the A1 motorway now stands out in the landscape.

Started on July 17, the laying of the bridge deck between Dugny and Le Bourget was completed on Wednesday August 9, 2023, marking a major step in the realization of this crossing and, more generally, in the promise of territorial networking in the prospect of the Paris 2024 Games.
In fact, the work carried out above the A1 motorway constitutes a new example of the scope of the works in progress in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis which – with the impetus of the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games – to the installation of structuring equipment, in the sports field and well beyond.
Also, a few weeks following the inauguration of the crossing between the Olympic Aquatics Center and the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, and following the installation in the fall of 2022 of a footbridge between Île-Saint-Denis and Saint-Denis Denis in the area universal one of the future Village of the Athletes of Paris 2024, the installation of the deck of the wooden footbridge of Dugny-Le Bourget materializes today several months of studies and design in factory, then assembly on site.

Concretely, following three months of manufacturing in the factory, in the workshops SIMON’S in Montlebon (Doubs), the structure of the footbridge was gradually transported to the site where the structure was to be installed.
Once there, said structure – made up of 10 elements – in fact might be pre-assembled on the ground, before the crane operation engages the lifting of the blocks on either side of the motorway axis and this, by taking advantage of the night closures for maintenance of the A1 decided by the Île-de-France Roads Department (DIRIF).
With the laying of the 100-meter-long apron completed this week, the Olympic Structures Delivery Company (SOLIDEO) will now be able to supervise the work on the external fittings, without forgetting of course the coating of the structure, the weight of which is close to 200 tons for a volume of wood in Douglas fir from Morvan of 400 m3.

As stated at this stage by Nicolas Ferrand, General Manager of SOLIDEO:
Less than six months from the delivery of the majority of the Olympic structures, the installation of this new bridge is a new step in the legacy that will remain following the Games. This is the third installation of a footbridge carried out as part of the Olympic structures, and two others on the Canal Saint-Denis will follow in the coming months.
While meeting our ambition for unprecedented environmental excellence, we are helping to create links and facilitate travel. This is the legacy that we wish to leave to the territories, and to their inhabitants and users..
If in the long term, the footbridge will make it possible to connect the Departmental Park George Valbon in La Courneuve at the Le Bourget sports and school park, it will be used from summer 2024 to provide a secure link between the Media Village sector in Dugny and the Le Bourget site where the Olympic climbing events will be organised.
