Former road pro Roger Kluge just missed out on a medal in the points race at the end of the Track Cycling World Championships in Glasgow. The 37-year-old collected a total of 89 points in the wooden oval on the last day. Aaron Gate (123 points) from New Zealand won the title.

Kluge impressed with his strong stamina. He scored the majority of his points in the second half of the 160-lap (40km) race, but his fight wasn’t rewarded with a medal. The day before, the veteran had finished seventh in a duo with Theo Reinhardt at the Madison.

Kluge ended his active career on the road last year and has been concentrating on the track ever since. He took part in the Tour de France five times, and in 2016 he won the 17th stage of the Giro d’Italia. His big goal is a medal at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
