The earth trembled once more in Neuquén. This Wednesday an earthquake was registered in the north of the province, in the area of incidence of the Domuyo volcano.
This was reported in its announcement system by the Neuquén National Institute for Seismic Prevention (INPRES). He event was recorded at 20:04:45 and had an epicenter 335 kilometers northwest of Neuquén and 459 kilometers south of Mendoza.
According to the report, the magnitude was 3.1 and it had a depth of only 10 kilometers.
From the Argentine Volcano Surveillance Observatory (OAVV), they informed RÍO NEGRO newspaper that “in principle the earthquake would not be of volcanic origin”. And they explained that despite the fact that on the map released by INPRES the epicenter is seen close up “it is at a considerable distance.”
The earthquake was classified as “event of tectonic origin” and it was also recorded by nearby networks, particularly by the network of the Laguna del Maule Volcanic Complex, They explained from the observatory.
The volcano Domuyo is a stratovolcano (active) that is born in the Cordillera del Vientomeasures more than 4,700 meters and is known as “the roof of patagonia” for having at its summit the maximum height of the region.
