Paris: Three French policemen were arrested in the case of the killing of a 27-year-old man in the southern city of Marseille during nationwide riots in France. Mohammad Bendris was killed while filming the rioters.
Riots broke out in France on June 27 following a policeman shot and killed a teenager named Nahal M during a traffic check. The police tried to quell the riots. Hundreds of people were arrested and hundreds of policemen were injured.
The public prosecutor’s office said that five police officers were taken into custody on Tuesday and two of them were released in the evening in connection with the investigation into the death of Mohammad Bendris.
Bendris was killed in Marseille on the night of July 1. According to the postmortem report, Bendris had scars on his chest that resembled injuries from a grenade blast. These types of grenades are usually used by the police.
