NFL Season Opener: Detroit Lions Ready to Shock the World Against Super Bowl Champs, Kansas City Chiefs

Another agonizingly long NFL offseason ends in just under two months. At the start of the new season, the Detroit Lions immediately take on the Kansas City Chiefs. They are obviously not afraid of the reigning Super Bowl Champ in “Motown”.

The Lions put in an impressive final sprint last season. The Michigan team has won eight of their last ten matches and narrowly missed making the playoffs. Cornerback Jerry Jacobs showed just how much self-confidence the players gained from this strong finish.

“It’s time to show what Detroit is made of,” the defender announced full-bodiedly on the radio network “Sirius XM”. In his eyes, the Chiefs are therefore the best possible opening opponent.

“We almost made the playoffs and they just won the Super Bowl, so they’re trying to figure out if we’re really that good,” Jacobs said. Incidentally, this showdown will take place on September 8th at 2:20 a.m. German time.

Although there are still more than eight weeks to go by then, Jacobs made a promise in advance. “If we play the season opener once morest the Super Bowl team, we’re ready to go out, play football and shock the world.”

NFL: Jerry Jacobs adelt Jared Goff

Jacobs should be busy as a cornerback once morest the offensively strong Chiefs. However, the defensive player sees the key to success in his own line of attack, as teammate Jared Goff praised.

“Jared Goff is the best quarterback, he’s really in the NFC top 5 if you’re being honest and looking at the stats. Aaron Rodgers would be in my top 5 but Jared Goff is at the top,” Jacobs clarified.

Goff did not have to shy away from comparisons with Rodgers or NFL legend Tom Brady in the preseason. With just seven interceptions, he left the two old masters behind. In addition, Goff ranked third in touchdowns (29) and passing yards (4,438) compared to the other NFC quarterbacks.
