Two medals at the end on the track: The Zurich para athlete Flurina Rigling convinces once more in the oval.
Flurina Rigling completed her set of medals at the Cycling World Championships in Glasgow. After the para cyclist had won gold in the individual pursuit, she successfully followed up on Tuesday with silver in the omnium and bronze in the scratch.
In the tight scratch race in category C2, the 26-year-old from Zurich was ahead until shortly before the last lap, but then had to be overtaken by German Maike Hausberger and Australian Amanda Reid. For the 28-year-old Hausberger it was the first world championship title of her career.

Thanks to this 3rd place, Rigling also won medals in the omnium combined discipline (200m, 500m time trial, individual pursuit and scratch). Behind Reid, the Swiss was able to celebrate silver.
Rigling had already won gold in the individual pursuit and silver in the scratch and omnium at the track world championships a year ago. In 2022 she had also secured bronze in the time trial. This was denied to her this time, but she might probably more than “console herself” with the world record over 200 m.
Now the 26-year-old is off the track and onto the street. The time trial is on Thursday and the road race on Saturday.
