The Public Authority for Civil Information is ready to impose fines once morest those who do not take civil ID cards in Kuwait. The new move follows a backlog of cards in the automatic vending machines at the Paci headquarters. Local media Al Rai reported that individuals who delay collecting their civil ID cards for more than three months will be fined up to twenty dinars.
It is also suggested to destroy the cards of those who do not collect the cards even following 6 months of issue. At present, more than two lakh cards are waiting for distribution at the Civil ID kiosks. The majority of the cards are for Article 18 and 22 visa holders. Due to non-collection of the cards from the kiosks, there is a long delay in the distribution of new cards.
Meanwhile, to speed up the process of issuing civil ID cards, the authority has taken steps to stop the distribution of cards submitted before May 23. With this, it is hoped that the issue will be resolved by speeding up the distribution of civil ID in the coming days.
