You may soon be paying more medical bills for your medications. The government is considering doubling the medical deductible, which would save 1.5 billion euros for Social Security.
Will switching to the pharmacy be more expensive next year? According to information from 20 Hours, the government is considering doubling medical deductibles. These are non-reimbursed levies that go directly into the Social Security fund. On the medicine box, for example, 0.50 euro cents today might be 1 euro next year. It might be the same for paramedical, nursing or physio rehabilitation. At the doctor, the supplement might go from 1 to 2 euros.

Bercy is indeed looking for revenue and in June, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire announced that he wanted to reduce the purchase of drugs.
