Currently in full preparation for the World Cup with Team USA, Steve Kerr took a moment to discuss the arrival of Chris Paul at the Warriors. The coach said he wants to play differently next season, admitting a ‘one-dimensional’ pattern was one of the pitfalls last season.

As he prepares for the World Cup with the USA, Steve Kerr does not forget the next NBA season with the Warriors. It must be said that there has been a little change in the bay since the premature exit of the former reigning champions in the second round of the Playoffs once morest the Lakers. A disappointing season that led to the trade of Jordan Poole to the Wizards and the arrival of Chris Paul from Phoenix.

A change of strategy but also a desire for the Warriors to better control their game. Steve Kerr explained himself on this new version in the Bay (via Sports Illustrated et Bleacher Report) :

“Last year our team needed a different way to attack and we got a little too one-dimensional with Steph Curry and the screens away from the circle. Chris is, as we know, one of the best pick-and-roll players of all time and he will know how to control the tempo. It’s very important, especially in the Playoffs, to have guys like that”.

The real question will be whether the Warriors will start with a major 5 incorporating Chris Paul or not. Throughout his career and his 1214 NBA games, CP3 has never started a game on the bench. A concession that the Point God would be ready to make to (finally) win an NBA ring? The main interested party had spoken on this subject some time ago:

“This is a conversation we will have at the start of camp with the staff. Yes, Steve (Kerr) and I have discussed but it’s not something that we can say, ‘You start or you come off the bench’, we will settle all this.

So rather a major 5 with or without CP3? The question is asked and will be a real decision for Kerr and the Californian staff next season.
